The SE350 is an Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) that maintains the generator output voltage within precise limits by controlling the exciter field current. It continuously samples the generator output voltage and adjusts excitation to compensate for load changes, engine speed variations, and temperature drift.

Selection Advice The SE350’s key differentiator is full encapsulation potting — the entire circuit board is sealed in resin, impervious to water, dust, salt spray, and insects. In mining, construction, coastal, and tropical rainforest environments, standard open-frame AVRs (like BE350) may fail within 2-3 years from moisture/dust shorting, while the SE350 can operate reliably for 5-8 years. This explains why the SE350 costs more despite having only 3.5A (0.5A less than BE350) — it sells reliability, not current.
