The GB-160 provides the best performance among the three — harmonic excitation delivers significantly better voltage stability than simple shunt excitation, with full power coverage from 1-30kW. The $5-10 additional cost can noticeably reduce customer returns due to voltage instability. For brush-type generator orders, the GB-160 is the recommended choice. Warning: the GB series must never be used with brushless generators — the excitation methods are fundamentally different, and incorrect application will damage equipment.
