The AVC63-7 is the highest-current model in the Basler AVC63 series (7A), providing 75% more excitation capacity than the standard AVC63-4. Suitable for generators above 200kW, particularly older units with increased field winding resistance requiring higher excitation voltage. Potted construction provides significant service life advantage in high-humidity, high-vibration environments such as mines, ship engine rooms, and construction sites.
Compared to the R438: the R438 has the largest global installed base for large generator sets with superior accuracy (±0.5% vs ±1%), but requires the additional R731 sensing module (total cost $250-450) and an extra installation step. The AVC63-7’s integrated design is simpler to install and priced at approximately 1/4-1/3 of the R438 kit cost, but has one tier lower accuracy and does not support parallel operation.
